  • By appointment only; you must call in to schedule. This is NOT a “drop in” clinic.
  • Illness visits only
  • 9:00 AM until 12 noon

Morning Drop in Hours:

  • No appointment is necessary
  • Established patients only
  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM
  • One physician is available
  • Patients are seen in order of their arrival. Maximum of 10 visits available per day. Once the drop in is full, or the wait time is longer than you would like, an appointment must be made for you.
  • Clinic asks that visits be limited to acute illness, i.e. ear aches, colds, fever, sore throat, and be of recent onset. They are not able to evaluate chronic conditions, pains or injuries during drop-in hours.

Insurance: Most insurance is accepted.


Matthew W. Allen, M.D.Matthew W. Allen, M.D.

Matthew Allen, MD joined Ballard Pediatrics in 2001 after completion of residency at Seattle Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center. Born in Seattle, Dr. Allen is a graduate of both the Philosophy Department and School of Medicine at the University of Washington. His training has given him opportunities to practice medicine in China, Guatemala and Chiapas, Mexico.

Dr. Allen works full time at Ballard Pediatrics and enjoys following the development of children within their families. He is currently the President of the Medical Staff at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Allen lives in Seattle with his wife, interior designer Allison Allen, and daughter Ellie and sons Andrew and Grant. His outside interests include alpine hiking, sea kayaking, soccer and reading.




Sarah Archibald, M.D.Sarah Archibald, M.D.

Sarah Archibald, MD, has been providing care to patients at Ballard Pediatrics since 2006; she is now officially joining the practice and will be in the office 2 1/2 days a week. Dr. Archibald grew up in Boise, Idaho, and attended Stanford University for her undergraduate education. She then took a year off and moved to Sun Valley, Idaho, where she worked as a ski instructor before heading off to medical school. She attended the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency, including a year as chief pediatric resident, at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center/University of Washington.

Dr. Archibald lives in Ballard with her husband, Dr. Brett Daniel, a family practice physician, and their young son Lucas. She enjoys spending time with her family and loves to cook, hike, ski, and play soccer.


Kathryn H. Del Beccaro, M.D.Kathryn H. Del Beccaro, M.D.

Kathryn DelBeccaro, MD, joined Ballard Pediatrics in 1987 and is in the office 3 days a week, sharing with Dr. Malliris. Dr. DelBeccaro grew up on Queen Anne Hill and attended Stanford University and the University of Washington School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital/University of Washington. Her interests are in general pediatrics and the the care of multiples. Dr. DelBeccaro lives in the Hawthorne Hills neighborhood. Her children are Carolyn (22) and twins, Emily & Christopher (19). She enjoys music, sewing, quilting and reading.


Christianne Eldred, M.D.Christianne Eldred, M.D.

Christianne Eldred, MD joined Ballard Pediatrics in 1999, and is in the office 2 1/2 days a week, job-sharing with Dr. McMahon. She is a graduate of the University of Washington (BS in Zoology, 1991) and the UW School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency in 1998 at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center and University of Washington.

In addition to her interest in general pediatrics, Dr. Eldred enjoys working with adolescents. Her time out of the office is devoted to community outreach programs sponsored by the Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as gardening, cooking, reading and snowboarding. Dr. Eldred lives in Ravenna with her husband Tom Schwab, a broker for Westwood Mortgage, and two young sons Declan and Dashiell.


Ourania B. Malliris, M.D.Ourania B. Malliris, M.D.

Ourania Malliris, MD joined Ballard Pediatrics in 1982 after completing her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital here in Seattle. Originally from the Chicago area, she traveled east to Boston to attend Radcliffe College and Harvard Medical School, graduating in 1978.

Dr. Malliris is in the office 3 1/2 days a week, sharing her practice with Dr. Del Beccaro, and is interested in all aspects of pediatrics. She is fluent in Greek.

Dr. Malliris lives in Wallingford with her husband, Dr. Scott Barnhart, college-age daughter Katy and high school-age son Theodore. Although she is an avid gardener, vacations often take the entire family backpacking or skiing in the Olympics or Cascades.




Edward M. McMahon Jr., M.D.Edward M. McMahon Jr., M.D.

Ted McMahon, MD, joined Ballard Pediatrics in 1986 upon the retirement of Hal Hunt, MD. A graduate of Williams College and Duke University School of Medicine, Dr. McMahon completed his pediatric training at Children's Hospital and the University of Washington in 1975.

During his eleven years of pediatric practice in Eugene, Oregon from 1975-1986, Dr. McMahon helped establish the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Sacred Heart General Hospital, and served as Chief of Pediatrics from 1985-1986, before returning to Seattle.

Dr. McMahon job-shares with Dr. Christianne Eldred, and is in the office 2-1/2 days a week. A Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Washington, he served as president of the Medical Staff of Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center from 2000-2001.

Dr. McMahon lives in Wallingford with his wife, photographer Rosanne Olson, and their two Maine Coon cats, Zoe and Maxx.


Robert W. Telzrow, M.D.Robert W. Telzrow, M.D.

Robert Telzrow, MD is the Medical Director of the Ballard Pediatric Clinic. Dr. Telzrow attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio before obtaining his MD from Ohio State University in 1968. After military service at Fairchild Air Force Base Hospital in Spokane, he completed his pediatric residency at Children's Hospital in Seattle, followed by a Fellowship in Child Development at Boston Children's Hospital with Dr. T. Berry Brazelton. Dr. Telzrow returned to Seattle in 1976 to join the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington, serving as the Director of the Pediatric Clinic at the University of Washington from 1979-1980. In 1980 he moved his practice to the Ballard Pediatric Clinic upon the retirement of Dr. Robert Hickman. Dr. Telzrow is a past-president of the Medical Staff of Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, and a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Washington School of Medicine.
